The problem I have with this new version of Mac OS, which many of you should know by now, is that Lion has a bit much of iOS built into the OS now. For me, this is not really that good of a move; the two platforms should be kept separate.
Lets start with the way it now looks in 10.7.
The way the OS looks, for the most part, is the same as 10.5 & 10.6, but with a few new UI changes. The Dock is still the same, and so is the Desktop. However, what I don’t like 100% is that they have added an iOS kind of screen to it. I’m sure that most people think this is a great thing to add to Mac OS X, but I’m not exactly lovin’ it.
You have things like Folders now but I’m sure I already had Folders on my Mac. …Or was I just putting stuff into random blue things on my Desktop? Does having folders mean that we can no longer put folders on our desktop? I’m sure most people like the way it is?
I’m going to wait until WWDC 2011 to see more of Mac OS X Lion to make my mind up on it. But, if I do end up getting it, then it won’t be installed on my main Mac anyways. The way that I will install it will be on my MacBook Pro, just to see how it runs and just to see if I will in fact like it or not.
Now onto what I think it will cost:
I think the price will be between £30 “$30USD” and the normal £129 “$129USD”. Now I think it could be £30 again; just going on that to me its not that much of an update to 10.6. To me, it would not be worth the £129 just for a few iOS things added. If I wanted some iOS, I would just use my iPhone 4 or iPad.
So thats all I wanted to talk about today. If I like it, I will install it on my main Mac: the iMac.
