One of the most common questions I get is “should I jailbreak” so I decided to make a post of the experiences I had with jailbreaking. The first thing you need to know about jailbreaking is that it is legal. There is nothing wrong with jailbreaking your device. Now that we got that out of our way lets talk about some of the benefits. The biggest benefit is having full control of your device. Once you have that control you can do many cool things from changing your app icons to changing the boot logo. Then you course you have the jailbroken apps. The biggest jailbreaking tool in my opinion is Cydia. It is a app that you could call the App Store for jailbroken apps. Once you have Cydia you can start getting tweaks, hacks, themes, and much more. Now let’s talk about the disadvantages. There really is not many but one that is a big deal to some people, is it does violate the terms of service from Apple. That means if its jailbroken and you have a problem with your device Apple may not fix it. Now for most cases this is not a problem because you can always restore your device in iTunes, but if its a hardware issue you could be out of luck. This did happen to me but I wad lucky and Apple fixed it anyway but you may not be so lucky. Another disadvantage is that your device may slow down. People always blame there devices being slow because of the jailbreak but in many cases its because of the things they got from Cydia. With that said a iPod, iPhone, or iPad is just like a computer, the more stuff you have on it the slower it will become. Overall if you want control and freedom then jailbreak and you will probably enjoy all the extra features, if you are the type of person that thinks there device does everything they need it to do then I say leave it the way it is. At the end of the day its your preference!
