Earlier this week Apple announced their new iMac lineup. With these new updates Apple upgraded the processors to Quad-Core Sandy Bridge CPUs, added Thunderbolt, 3X faster graphics, and of course an HD Facetime camera. Now you’re probably thinking “I really want one of these!” however the question remains, are they worth the upgrade?
As of right now there have been no rumors about when Apple may be updating/redesigning the external casing of the iMac lineup however, my guess would be sometime next year.
This may seem like an eternity to some of you but to others it could go by very quickly. In my opinion the iMac series looks very modern and doesn’t need an external casing upgrade at this time.
If you are buying your first mac the new iMacs are a very good place to start. They are very fast and affordable.
If you already own an iMac from 2009-2010 and the latest and greatest in performance isn’t important to you, I would say hold off until the 2012 iMac refresh.
If you think the current design looks outdated just wait another year and I’m sure Apple will amaze us with a brand new design.
