Apple talked about the Mac App Store when they gave all of us a demo of Mac OS X Lion a few months ago. Back during that event, they mentioned that the date of such software being released would be after the 1st of 2011.
There are now strong rumors that point to the 13th of December as a possible launch date for this new software. It makes sense, it would be nice to launch the new program for Mac OS X before Christmas. Gifting an App would be good for friends, since it’s easy and usable right away.
As a final not, for anybody that may not know, the Mac App Store is going to be like the App Store we’ve had for years on our iPhones and iPod Touches. The only difference is that this Store will hold apps for Mac OS X, like the iLife Suite, and many other 3rd party apps. This makes getting applications for your Mac super easy since you can view, compare, and find hundreds all from the store, just like in iOS.
