After 2 years with the iPhone 5, and several major problems with it, including a cracked screen, the dreaded lock button failure, and the battery recall, I was ready for an upgrade. So, when Apple announced the iPhone 6 this past Tuesday, September 9th, I knew that I had to have it.
I mulled over what model I would get, even considering Android a few times. But what kept me on the iPhone was the tighter integration between iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite, as well as Photo Streams. I finally decided that I would purchase the iPhone 6 Plus 64 GB, in Space Grey.
I stayed up until 3 AM EST to order it, eagerly awaiting the Apple Store's page opening. But it didn't happen. There were reports all over of low stock, so I went to my carrier's site, AT&T. I preordered it through them, and it couldn't have gone smoother...
At least I thought so, until I checked my bank's website the next day. I was greeted by $864 of pending charges from AT&T. They somehow charged me twice, and after spending about 2 hours on the phone with both my bank and AT&T as well as getting disconnected several times, the second charge was reversed. I was told it was a glitch in their ordering system because they got slammed with orders when the system opened. Now, my estimated shipping date says October 31st, but I read some reports about users who saw dates like that still getting the phone on launch day. So, I am crossing my fingers!
