It feels a little surreal to write this, honestly. If you had told teenage me that one day I’d be running TechInform.us, I probably would’ve just laughed and gone back to managing our Minecraft server. But here we are—and I wanted to share a bit about how it all came together.
The Vokle Days
Let’s rewind back to around 2009 or 2010. There was this live-streaming site called Vokle—kind of a precursor to what Twitch and YouTube Live would later become. That’s where I met Erik, who’s still my best friend to this day and now my business partner.
We clicked instantly. We’d be on Vokle talking tech, gaming, gadgets—whatever we were obsessed with at the time. We became fast friends, gaming almost daily and building this tight bond online.
And here’s the kicker—we later found out we only lived like 30 minutes apart. All that time we thought we were connecting from across the country, and we were practically neighbors.
And of course, we were absolutely obsessed with Minecraft. We ran an epic server, spent countless nights building and exploring, and honestly, it was one of the first digital spaces that gave me a sense of what it meant to build a community around tech.
So yes—when the Minecraft movie drops, we’ve already got our opening weekend tickets, and I’ll be back in a theater for the first time in six years. Expect a full review.
Discovering TechInform
I first came across TechInform somewhere around 2011 or 2012—Erik introduced me to it, and I immediately saw the potential. It was a smart, scrappy blog that actually spoke like a human. No jargon overload, no clickbait nonsense. Just real people talking tech.
And honestly? Back then, TechInform was kind of a big deal, especially for a blog in that era. 2011 and 2012 were the site’s peak years, with not just solid written content but also some forward-thinking media efforts that were way ahead of their time—especially when it came to podcasting.
My personal favorite thing from that era was a show called TechIn5. It was a podcast that gave you all the biggest tech news of the week—in five minutes or less. Super tight, super useful, and perfect for people who wanted to stay informed without having to commit to a 45-minute audio lecture.
(Yes, we’re bringing that back. Stay tuned.)
Over the years, the site went through a few quiet periods. It was even abandoned a couple of times. The last post before we took over was way back in 2018, and things had pretty much gone dark after that.
In 2022, I started trying to buy the site. I could see the potential for a revival. I wanted to bring back the voice that made me love it in the first place—but the deal didn’t happen at the time.
Fast forward to 2025, and it finally clicked. We were able to reach an agreement, and just like that, TechInform.us was ours.
Now, Erik and I co-own the parent company behind TechInform, and I serve as Editor-in-Chief of the site. This is just the beginning of a brand-new chapter—and we’re only getting started.
Who I Am Outside the Editor Title
Outside of running TechInform, I’m a professional photographer and videographer. I’ve shot over 200 weddings, and I still take on events when I can. My main gear right now is the Fujifilm X-T5 and the X100VI—a combo I absolutely love for both creative work and on-the-go shooting.
I’ve always been into tech, gaming, computers, and cars. My daily machines are a 16-inch M4 Pro MacBook Pro (November 2024 model) and an ASUS G14. As for phones? I swap them constantly, but right now I’m rocking a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra as my personal and a Pixel 8 for work.
On the personal side, I’ve been married for almost five years, and my wife and I have two amazing boys—one is about two and a half, and the other is seven months old. Life is chaotic and beautiful.
Why This Matters
What we’re building here at TechInform is more than just another tech site. It’s a return to something real. We’re not here to parrot press releases or hype up every shiny thing that drops. We’re here to ask questions, be skeptical when we need to be, and give you the kind of smart, no-nonsense content we wish more sites were putting out.
So, whether you’re an OG TechInform reader or just finding us for the first time—welcome. This site is for people who love tech, want the truth, and don’t need the fluff.
Thanks for being here.
