Confessions of a (Mostly) Faithful Gamer — I’m Leaving It All Behind for the Switch 2

It Started With a Glance…

I wasn’t looking for anything new.

I had a PS5, a gaming PC, and plenty of games keeping me warm. I told myself I was happy. Comfortable. Settled.

But then I saw her. The Switch 2.

Slimmer, more powerful, more… portable. Promising thrills on the go, late-night sessions in bed, and the kind of magic I hadn’t felt since my DS days.

And just like that… I’m leaving it all behind.

The Plan: Go Exclusive. Or Try To.

If everything goes to plan, my Switch 2 will arrive June 5th — pre-ordered through Walmart like some secret rendezvous.

And when it gets here? I’m committing.

For the first time in my life, I’m making a Nintendo console my one and only. My exclusive platform. My gaming main squeeze.

I know what you’re thinking: You? Monogamous?

Listen, I’m trying.

But I Still Have… Needs

I still have a gaming laptop. A PS5. They’ll sit there, glowing silently in the corner, whispering “remember us?”

And I’ll try to ignore them. But I’m only human.

There will be… slip-ups.

🎮 GTA 6 — My Forbidden Flame

It’s coming. Not soon, but eventually. And when it does, it won’t be on Switch 2 — at least not right away.

And when that day comes, I’ll stray. No hesitation. I’ve accepted it.

🚜 Farming Sim — The One I Keep Going Back To

I’ve tried to quit her. I really have. But I’ve got a Farming Sim 25 server. I’ve got crops in the ground. A community depending on me.

You don’t just walk away from something that fulfilling.

So yes, I’ll be logging in from my PC or PS5 to harvest, sow, and tend.

And I won’t apologize.

But Giants Software — if you’re listening — bring the real Farming Sim to Switch 2. No mobile-lite version. Give me the full experience. Let me be faithful.

🔫 Call of Duty, Halo, Flight Sim — The Temptations

They’re not here yet. But I can feel them circling.

I’d bet money that Halo and Call of Duty will make the jump to Switch 2. They have to. It just makes too much sense.

Flight Sim? That’s trickier. She’s high maintenance. But if she shows up on PS5, who knows? The Switch 2 might win her over next.

Until then… I may sneak away now and then. Just for a match or two.

Why I’m Doing This (Other Than the Obvious Thrill)

Look, I’m not a reckless gamer chasing the next shiny cartridge.

I’m a dad now. A husband. My life is different.

The kids run the TV. The PS5’s big, loud, and tethered. My gaming time? It comes in bursts — late nights, quiet moments on the couch, stolen breaks between chaos.

That’s why I already use my PS Portal more than the PS5 itself. That’s why the Switch 2 fits.

She fits around my life instead of demanding to be the center of it.

And you know what? I’m finally excited about Nintendo again.

I’ve loved Mario Kart since I first played it on my DS. But Mario Kart 8 and 8 Deluxe? It was like being in a long-term relationship that never changed clothes. Same old tracks, same old tricks — for ten years.

But Mario Kart World? She’s new. Bold. Daring. She makes me want to drift again.

Trevor Score: 10/10 — I’m All In (Until I’m Not)

This isn’t a review. It’s a confession.

This isn’t about perfection. It’s about intention.

And right now? I intend to go exclusive with the Switch 2. She’s earned it.

Final Thoughts Before the Affair Begins

The Switch 2 won’t be my only device. I know that.

But it’ll be the one I reach for first. The one I keep next to the bed. The one I turn to when I need comfort… or a little adrenaline.

If Farming Sim comes over, if Halo and CoD follow suit, I may never need to stray again.

But even if they don’t — this is still the system I want to spend most of my time with.

Bachelor Party Rules Until June 5th 😏

Now, until the Switch 2 arrives? It’s a free-for-all.

A wild last hurrah. Like a bachelor party in Vegas with a PS5 and a gaming PC doing body shots off each other.

Come June 5, I’m committing. But until then? All bets are off.

And yes — I’ll be tracking every “cheating” session off-Switch in a little logbook. Because when I write my follow-up post, I want to see how faithful I really was.

And jokes aside — I don’t condone actual cheating. My wife reads these posts after all. Hi Anna 👋 I would never cheat on you or even think about it. This is just about video games. Promise. ❤️

Let the honeymoon phase begin.
