The kind folks at Jisoncase recently contacted us to take a look at their iPhone cases. We’ve had two of their cases for a few weeks now and are fairly happy with the quality and style of the cases.

Super Slim Case

The Jisoncase Super Slim Case is reminiscent of Apple’s leather case that has been available for the last several iPhone models. It provides a good amount of protection for the phone while keeping all ports and buttons easily accessible. After using the case on my phone for the past few weeks, the leather looks great with little to no signs of wear. Wireless charging works fine through this case, which has easily become one of my favorite features with the latest round of iPhones.

While I am generally a fan of this case, there are a few ways that it could be improved. The mute switch can be difficult to access. I’ve found that I’ve often had to remove the case to activate that switch. A larger cutout could easily remedy that minor annoyance.

While it makes docking and connecting cables easier, the wide open bottom of the case leaves the bottom of the phone open to scratches and other damage. A design that includes coverage on the bottom would have been my preference, but even Apple’s offering leaves the bottom open, so that’s a trade off I’ll have to accept when using this case.

Folio Case

The Jisoncase folio case is an interesting option from the company. It shares in the quality leather construction found with the Super Slim case with a slightly different texture that feels great in the hand. The buttons and ports are all easily accessible, even with the case closed. The inclusion of a cutout for the earpiece is a nice touch that allows phone calls to be made with the case closed.  Also included with this case is a stand mode which makes it easy to prop the phone up in a variety of angles.

In comparison to others that I have seen, this folio case lacks a few features that would help to make the experience much more positive. While it isn’t advertised as a wallet case, card slots would have been a welcome addition on the inside of the front cover to further utilize that space.

When the case is open, the left side of the phone is left exposed, which makes access to those buttons easy, but leaves the phone vulnerable to scratches and other damage. Another strip of leather covering that side would further protect the phone and could improve the stand mode previously discussed. Overall, this is a good case that could be great with a few improvements.
