Apple has been selling refurbished computers and iPads in their online store, but have never sold refurbished iPhones, until now. Apple has now begun selling older model iPhones in the refurbished section of their online store, some with pretty substantial discounts, making buying an iPhone directly from Apple cheaper than ever.
While it’s likely that the latest models will be added at some point in the future, currently the iPhone SE, iPhone 7, and iPhone 7 Plus aren’t available refurbished.
If you’re looking for your first iPhone, or don’t mind owning one that isn’t the latest and greatest, you can pick up an unlocked iPhone 6S with 16GB of storage for $449, which is $80 less than the regular asking price. An iPhone 6S Plus with 64GB of storage will set you back $589, which is $110 less than the usual asking price.
A refurbished iPhone could make a great holiday gift, so Apple’s timing from introducing refurbished phones couldn’t get much better.
You’re guaranteed to get quality when purchasing from Apple, as well as an essentially brand new device, since refurbished phones come with a brand new battery and outer shell. All colors are sizes are available, and refurbished iPhones can be used on any carrier since they come unlocked and SIM-free.
