Following rumors earlier this week that Apple would be hosting an event on October 27th, invitations were sent out today confirming the rumored event will be taking place at Apple’s Cupertino campus on October 27th at 10:00 AM.

The event is expected to be Apple’s Mac focused event, where we’ll likely see updates across the board with many models receiving their annual processor bump.

The star of the show is likely to be the highly rumored updated MacBook Pro, which is said to feature a thinner design and an OLED panel above the keyboard replacing the function keys found on the current hardware. The new machines will also likely be losing their SD card slot, as well as the MagSafe and HDMI ports in favor of 4 USB-C ports and a headphone jack. While the physical dimensions will likely become smaller, the new laptops should stick with the same 13″ and 15″ screen sizes.

An updated 13″ MacBook Air is also likely to be introduced, featuring USB-C and other minor changes. The fate of the 11″ MacBook Air is still up in the air, but some are speculating that its death is imminent, largely due to the competition from the 12″ retina MacBook.

Updated iMacs featuring AMD graphics are another possibility at the event, as well as an updated 5K retina display to replace the Thunderbolt display that was discontinued earlier this year. The Mac mini and Mac Pro are also due for updates, but it’s not clear if any updates will be made to them at the event on the 27th. It would be nice to see a minor processor bump if nothing else, but that’s up to Apple.

Much of the iPad line is also due for updates, though it’s likely that new models won’t be making an appearance until spring, when we could see the 7.9″ iPad join the iPad Pro family.

Apple will be live streaming on its website and on the Apple TV and we will be covering the event live with our thoughts on what’s being announced on Twitter @TechInformus. Be sure to follow us for the latest updates regarding this event and all things tech!
